Albino Alligators

Daily writing prompt
What is the last thing you learned?

To point a broad stroke on the answer, I’d say that the last thing I learned as well as continue to understand, is that caring and humanity has never been a good business model, so businesses only pretend to do so.

We landed on the moon in 1969. Eight years later small pox was eradicated. So since 1977, no other disease has been cured -because big pharma figured out there’s no money creating cures, only creating patients.

Hospitals are monopolies who only care about profits. The big names absorb the little names. Doctors are paid exorbitant salaries then required to work sleep deprived for days on end -which has been proven is no different than consuming alcohol -which is why drug addictions run wild among doctors and nurses.

Law firms offer “no money unless we win” and refuse any case that isn’t easy money with statements such as “we’re not accepting cases of that type at this moment.” No matter who wins or loses, the attorneys will always win.

The airwaves are completely saturated with gambling and alcohol ads with “addiction problem” disclaimers attached -not because they care, but because they’re required to. If they cared, I wouldn’t be bombarded by their commercials through every single streaming service I have.

The majority of person-to-person salespeople don’t genuinely care about finding you the right product. They care about keeping their own job by making you a long term customer so you continue your patronage and they get paid. It’s not out of malice. They simply aren’t paid enough to actually care.

A motorcycle company wants you to feel as though you’re worthy of their product so when you purchase it, your ego gets a nice bump and you ignore their inflated prices and outdated technology -because you’re part of a brotherhood that they actually want no part of but encourage you to believe they do. They have never and will never bother to correct the belief that was real at one point -that the product really was about the life and brotherhood at one point.

And the grand FU of all – politics. The politician is *never* on your side. You are on theirs. There’s a reason people enter politics and it has nothing to do with helping fellow man. It’s power and wealth… They will lie to their own mother and sell their own children if it means getting what they want.

And very few media influencers care about right and wrong -they want the power and wealth that comes with likes and subscribers. I wouldn’t be surprised if more than half really don’t even believe the info they are spreading.

Before you do business, believe someone’s public statements, take a side, or point the finger, ask yourself if they really do have your interests in mind or really just serving themselves.

I believe what you will discover is that the amount of people who would help/care for you out of benevolence is as rare as an albino alligator. As the world continues to descend into the abyss of the haves and the have-nots, it will continue to become more about survival than anything else.

Cherish those you have who are genuine.
