Growing up I had the impression that custard was some sort of egg-based dessert like eggnog. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy eggs, but not as a dessert. That doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest… ewee gross.
Because of that ignorance, I avoided custard without a second thought.
It wasn’t until I was in my 40’s and visually saw a tub of custard in an ice cream store that my misconception was challenged.
Sweet baby Jesus. So many years lost not enjoying the rich and silky frozen treat made by the gods themselves. After trying custard for the first time, I was ruined on ice cream. There’s not even a comparison. This delectable delicacy offers so much more flavor and creaminess than its frozen counterpart.
My first cone of custard was damn near a spiritual experience. I couldn’t believe the difference. I am now unable to fathom why people willingly choose ice cream over custard if given the choice.
The bittersweet twist to this story is that I now do not live within reasonable proximity to any custard stands. The closest one is hours away. My heart is sad, but my waistline is very appreciative. If I had custard within arm’s reach, I’d be one of those people you see being hauled out of their house by a forklift and after they removed the side of the house to get me out… because I am a glutton by nature.
Even I do like custrad but that’s a different version with cut fruits and nuts…i don’t everyone is aware about it may be someπ but it’s delicious should give a try if you know how to make one, you might get the custard powder near your store or supermarkets around there just add some milk, sugar, stir and cool add powder and then fruits procedure you can now get in youtube also i guess or behind the product…π. Enjoy your custrad…

I actually have a small ice cream machine that I believe makes custard. I’ve avoided seeing if in fact it does for the same reason I’m happy a custard stand isn’t close by. lol

Oooh, someone’s a bit of a custard-snob! I too enjoy custard, but LC– ice-cream just hits the spot, you know? But I do get where you’re coming from. Custard is heavenly if made right ;D

Don’t get me wrong. I’d never turn down a bowl or cone of ice cream. lol And you’re right, it has to be made correctly. I’ve had some that’s absolutely devine and others that were not worth the trip.
