I try my best not to believe in placing too much stock in people -real or fictional. Almost every “hero” I’ve had an interest in or taken the time to learn more about only ended with disappointment -not because I expected them to be perfect or wholesome, but to discover they were not good people in one way or another.
My father abandoned me due to his toxic wife. I was eventually betrayed by that same woman after a lifetime of psychologically abusive behavior. The incredibly talented actors I once admired have been marred by way too many accusations of sexual misconduct. The “real” people within arm’s reach that I once looked up to and admired for their successes had kept their darker side hidden until I was within their sphere of influence. I placed trust in them and paid a heavy price.
The conclusion of it all is that I no longer admire actual people. Based on a lifetime of observation, I now understand that the road they took to get there was likely paved with bodies of some kind. America’s figureheads are mostly incompetent egomaniacs. Hollywood was founded and controlled by sexual deviants.
AI will soon be so advanced that the low/middle IQ crowd will be even more influenced by propaganda. Reality is beginning to fracture. Robots for work. Companionship. Sex. AI can build digital worlds that will soon be indistinguishable from what’s tangible. Soon there will be AI influencers with the single purpose of spreading misinformation and propaganda -and because they look a certain way, they will/or already are, gain popularity.
Don’t blindly place your faith in someone simply because they’re popular, rich, or even likable. Appreciate their achievements, but understand they’re human and have demons of their own they’ve had to manage/hide from.
Alton Chekhov, a Russian playwright wrote, “Man will only become better when you make him see what he is like.” i have been on such a journey. From my brokenness i press on to be better, do better, love better.
