Are you the type of person who has to plan everything out to the smallest detail possible in the hopes of avoiding any surprise situations?
Well kid, perfection doesn’t exist because you’re not the only one on this big blue marble. You can plan all you want, but reality dictates you will end up having to respond to external influences as they happen.
If anything, in-depth planning makes setbacks hit harder than they would normally because you convince yourself the more you plan, the better your odds at everything going as scheduled.
If life has taught me anything is that perfection doesn’t exist. At all. In any form. The worst vacation I ever had was this year. For the first time in my life I tried to map out my entire trip instead of playing the situation as it manifested. It was comic-book terrible. That getaway was the first one in my life that I had planned every aspect of.
My advice? Find peace in the challenge of controlling your response in the moment, not whatever lies in the future.
