Two things I’m hesitant to admit in public while in certain areas – I’m patriotic and I’m a Veteran.
Being a Veteran was my choice and I was excited to do so, but it was also my only escape from the town I grew up in. I had a better chance of getting caught up in the drug trade if I didn’t escape it.
I’ve watched as being a Veteran has slowly transformed from serving our country into serving ourselves. It’s become an entitlement. Civilians dress like military to get attention. Veterans get upset when a retail store doesn’t offer military discount.
Politicians have bastardized what being patriotic means purely for propaganda. Suddenly, being patriotic means being racist.
Propaganda has turned the resentment of illegal immigrants into saying I hate all immigrants… and those who continue to spout this nonsense do so for no other reason but to further their agenda at the cost of peace and stability.
I’m a Veteran because I chose to be. I do not expect gratitude from random strangers or discounts at retail stores. I was a Vet and paid normal prices long before the retail chains made it a marketing gimmick.
I’m patriotic because I believe in protecting our country from the two groups who represent the most danger for it – lifetime politicians and terrorist groups. One is responsible for countless American deaths to serve their agenda. The other bombs Americans for invading their country under false pretenses.
How people live their lives is of no consequence to me unless it impacts me directly. I have my own life and problems to manage and wish everyone else best of luck with their own path and choices.
