After getting my Amtrak-based ads out in front of over 36K people with high engagement but little to no response -or the response of no one being surprised, I had to accept a glaring fact.
A government slush fund that has a 2 billion dollar annual revenue and just received another 60 billion of taxpayer money doesn’t care about losing money – because that’s literally their business model. The executives get paid… How much? Funny you should ask that.
According to the NY Post, even in when Amtrak posted record losses, the executives accounted for $2.3 in performance bonuses. The graph below shows what the total payout for 2021 was. That’s well over $5 million in payroll for just the executives – while operating at a loss.

They have failed for so long that it has become the expected outcome… And yet people continue to accept that and use their service. Talk about compliance and mind control. Jesus.
Although I might eventually get them to do the right thing, it would take every dime I have and every extra moment of my time. And as you can see above, they have no reason to care. The taxpayers are footing the bill regardless of how poorly they do -to the tune of billions.
